Improved connectivity helps small to medium-sized radiology centers compete with larger facilities
Larger radiology centers and chains usually have the financial means and staff to offer connectivity solutions that make it easy for referring physicians to use their facilities. This improved connectivity and resulting ease of use helps build loyalty with referring providers, giving these larger facilities an advantage. In the past, smaller and mid-sized radiology centers have been handicapped by this disadvantage.
That is not the case today!
Technology advances have removed these disadvantages for smaller and medium-sized referral centers.
Connectivity technology solutions exist today that allow radiology centers to choose between a very low-cost EMR integration solution that allows results to be directly delivered to any physician office EMR — or a no-cost, desktop delivery solution. Both of these technologies allow referral centers – of all sizes — to electronically receive orders and deliver results with images to referring physicians’ EMRs.
These connectivity solutions can be used with any RIS or PACS to not only provide better, easier-to-use connectivity, but also the capabilities required to support transition to the new ACI program, while helping increase physician loyalty and improving the bottom line.
In addition, some of these new technology advances like DigitalOne are offered in a “Software as a Service” model and bring not only the technology but also pre-existing EMR Vendor Relationships, along with the necessary resources to develop, monitor and support connectivity with referring practices. As a result, imaging centers enjoy significant savings without the need to add to their headcount.
Smaller and mid-size radiology referral centers no longer have to worry about losing physicians to the larger centers, due to ease of use and loyalty issues; that barrier has been removed!
